Wednesday, April 28
7:30-9 pm ET | 6:30-8 pm CT | 5:30-7 pm MT | 4:30-6 pm PT
Please join this Zoom Town Hall with the UUSJ Immigration Action Team, immigrant-led advocacy organizations, faith partners, and fellow UUs to discuss strategy for advocacy efforts at the Federal level and in Congress. This follows our March 24 informational webinar on US immigration policy. We seek your feedback on the best focus for UUSJ’s work now and medium-term, in coalition with partners. Should we focus on pathways to legal status for those already here and integrated in our economy and society? Reducing detention and deportation? Comprehensive immigration reform that would be more forward-looking? Raising refugee resettlement caps and strengthening federal services for resettling families? Encouraging a return to broader acceptance and humane treatment for asylum-seekers? Strengthening oversight of US immigration agencies? Changing the current negative narrative about immigrants to a positive one emphasizing immigrants’ humanity and contributions?
Help define the focus for UUSJ’s June virtual visit to Congress and mobilize constituents to join in those meetings, as well as refining our priorities and strategy for the next several years.
