UUSJ Advocacy Volunteer
The purpose of social justice advocacy is to make known public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy, it is the profession, vocation, or volunteerism of an advocate. Especially to address or redress root harms and disrupt interlocking injustices towards collective liberation.
This may include taking action writing letters (or emails) to public officials, writing letters to the editor conveying community stories, passing resolutions, communicating to the wider community through press releases and/or press conferences, signing and circulating petitions, attending town halls to ask pointed questions and get elected officials on record, and participating in direct persuasion (delegation visits) with officials or staff.
By joining this list you will receive communications about such opportunities, be they online, via social media amplification, or for specific advocacy exchanges with elected officials or their staff. We will invite you into the advocacy work of holding federal actors accountable.
You will now receive updates about advocacy opportunities, with the aspiration that you will attend, tune in, and participate via social media when possible.
In particular, we will inform you of opportunities and efforts to engage in direct exchanges with your federal officials or their staff (most often by Zoom).
Help us continue to grow by spreading the word.
