Refusing the budget cuts to human needs spending is our best chance to thwart the harm of draconian immigration enforcement and clearly defy the assault on our constitutional norms.
Join us for a briefing by Ben D'Avanzo, Senior Strategist for Health Advocacy at the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), on the intersection of immigration, reconciliation, and healthcare. Ben will explain what you need to know about reconciliation basics and what it means for our communities of care. He will articulate why reconciliation matters, cover the case history advocates are discussing, and answer questions.
Ben leads NILC’s federal health advocacy and language justice work. He works with Congress, executive branch agencies, national stakeholders, and community organizations to advocate for immigrants’ access to health care and healthy lives. He is well-positioned in his work to help us understand what we are facing.
Tracking the policy plans advanced by Congressional leadership and the Trump Administration requires understanding reconciliation and how the proposed budget process will take resources from average Americans to fund tax cuts for billionaires and supercharge the harsh immigration policies being tested.
Join us to learn about the reconciliation process, where and how we UUs can intervene effectively, and why we need to hold lawmakers accountable to the people they serve.
This event will include interpretation:
