Our democracy is in peril, impacting all of our social justice work and our way of life. We are mobilizing our UU congregations to join forces and work to save our democracy.

The UUSJ Democracy Action Team is convening Democracy Leaders in an ongoing discussion and action series about how we can contribute to a pro-democracy movement capable of thwarting the autocratic movement emerging rapidly in the U.S.

1: Acting on the 2025 Actions of Immediate Witness (AIWs)

2: Case study: All In At North Shore UC

AIWs are statements about a significant action, event, or development in the world that necessitates immediate engagement and action among UU congregations and affiliated groups.

• At the recent 2025 UUA General Assembly, in Baltimore, Maryland, two AIWs authored by UUSJ and its volunteers were overwhelmingly affirmed, approved, and ratified by the delegates.
• This session will describe ways churches can begin to act on the AIWs.

A delegation from North Shore Unitarian Church, Deerfield, Illinois will discuss how their Democracy Action Team got started and how everyone in the congregation became a member.

• They will also talk about the team's structure, processes, and their activities.
• The NSUC experience may serve as a helpful example for your church.
