This is a welcome event to introduce or reintroduce UUSJ and share our approach to faithful defiance in the federal space.
Coffee, refreshments, and light mid-morning fare will be provided.
Congress matters tremendously in our current mess. Their recent abrogation of Article 1 powers and upcoming decisions and votes have systemic import. Given recent polls and other factors, we believe an opportunity exists to exert moral pressure if they hear from their constituents. We are focusing our advocacy on the just and humane treatment of immigrants, responding to mounting attacks on other vulnerable populations, and preparing for what may come to curtail the rights and freedoms of everyone.
Join us for a brief update on our action plan for this session of Congress. Hear what we've tried and tested. Learn how you can get involved in the advocacy with logistical and content support from UUSJ. Discover how you and your congregation can have a meaningful impact on Congress with UUSJ.
More: Context for our Welcome Brunch
The media is rife with reporting on the various ways the new administration is assaulting our Constitution, our governing norms, and our liberties. Since taking office, the new administration has been actively expanding its deportation and detention capacity across the U.S. and preparing to cut human services to fund the expansions. We find their activity and plans objectionable and, in many instances, reprehensible.
More than that, many of you, many advocates, activists, and clergy, fear they are starting with immigrants and will conclude by curtailing the rights and freedoms of everyone.
Join us as we discuss how we can use our UU values and classic advocacy techniques to fight these challenges together. With unity of purpose, we can have a meaningful impact.
Thank you for registering!
We appreciate the head count.
