Drawing from almost a decade of experience on Capitol Hill working on energy and environmental policy and legislation, Katie will speak in her personal capacity about the power UUs have to help drive the progressive agenda.
Katie will pull from examples of her work as Staff Director for the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Subcommittee on the Environment for Rep. Ro Khanna and Senior Policy Advisor for Energy and Environment to Senator Bernie Sanders before that.

UUSJ is pleased to present a Zoom policy talk by Katie Thomas Carol, Esq., Director of Energy and Environment Programs for the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (the CPC Center), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that identifies and develops solutions to build a more just, equitable, and resilient nation.
The CPC Center believes everyone should have a say in the policy decisions affecting our lives. Inclusive governance—led by frontline communities, including, but not limited to, Black people, Indigenous people, other people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, immigrants, people of various faiths and traditions, people experiencing homelessness, and low-income people—is key to achieving a nation in which all of us can thrive.
Katie has important insights to share with Unitarian Universalists. Katie will help us appreciate our role, and remind us why we advocate for progressive solutions. She will explain how that advocacy helps shape and drive the negotiations for the environmental and climate justice legislation we want.
Katie's insights will help us understand the importance of sharing our power with impacted folks, our potential role within the larger environment and climate justice movement, and, most especially, why we do the long-haul work, not the loop-hole work.
Thank you for Registering!
We will send a reminder ahead of the webinar, but in the meantime, please add the Zoom information to your calendar.

Join us on April 16th, 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT, for a talk with Rev. Susannah Tuttle, Director of the Eco-Justice Connection for NC Interfaith Power & Light, North Carolina Council of Churches. Rev. Susannah works on initiatives addressing environmental and climate justice issues as a moral imperative.
A life-long Unitarian Universalist, Rev. Susannah will speak about her work and campaign on the U.S. Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) or Fair Share. She will reflect on responses to that effort during COP 28, and describe the required future work, and role UUs can play.
