As we near the end of our 10-for-10 celebration — just one day left! — today we reflect on some numbers that help tell the story of UUSJ's evolution, and the ones that point to deeper, less visible impact.

26 years: Building a loud, unified UU voice on public policy issues in Washington, DC, always with an eye toward advocacy and activism.

16 years: The version of UUSJ we know today began in 2010, when the UUA closed its Washington Office, sparking a new era of UU justice engagement in DC.

31 to 11: UUSJ intentionally restructured — from a 31-member regional, federation-style board to a nimble national board of eleven — positioning us for greater clarity, impact, and accountability.

4 Actions of Immediate Witness: UUSJ volunteers helped advance and pass four AIWs at General Assembly since 2018 — on voter suppression, DACA and Dreamers, inherent worth and inalienable rights, and authoritarianism — each shaped by volunteers, partners, congregations, and coalitions working together. We’ve also endorsed or helped draft even more, like this year's AIW on Public Lands and the Endangerment Finding.

But some numbers will never be fully captured:

• The Hill staffers quietly shaped by our tradition,
• The congregations using UUSJ materials to inform and mobilize,
• The UU lay-leaders plugged into networks around the country,
• The coalition that comes to trust they can rely on UUs,
• The interfaith campaign where our contributions are appreciated, 
• The countless conversations in which UU values shift a policymaker's perspective.

As a Board, we are grateful for Pablo, and for every volunteer, every past Trustee, every partner, every congregation, and every donor who has helped build and sustain this legacy.
