The Last Battlefront
Activist Anne Anderson
Film screening and talk
The Last Battlefront tells the important story behind why so many Washington D.C. residents advocate for D.C. Statehood.
Washington, D.C. is one of the only capitals in the world where its citizens have no representation in the national legislature and where Congress and federal authorities routinely intrude on the local government of the District. The film looks at four turning points in the history of Washington, D.C. to understand how this happened and the struggles of D.C. residents to restore their basic rights of self-government that other Americans enjoy.
Anne Anderson is a Unitarian Universalist and community leader with the Washington, D.C. League of Women Voters (LWVDC) and a clinical social worker (retired). She is the mother of three wonderful children and grandmother of three astonishing grandchildren.
Anne has advocated for D.C. Statehood since 1971. In her work on D.C. Statehood, Anne brings a deep wellspring of conviction for universal voting rights and commitment to our UU values.
